Here I will go over how to cook basic food items like Cauliflower rice, Speghetti squash, Pretty much some of the main ingredients in alot of my dishes.
I like to put the whole dang thing in the oven. Its easier to cut afterwards. 350 degree in oven for about an hour. turn it over then cook for another 15-20 min. This should be tender to the touch. The bigger it is the longer it takes to cook so this is for a decent size squash (think football size) If its smaller check on it in 45 min.
When its done cut the ends off and cut the squash down the middle. You will then fork out the seeds in the middle and are left with the picture on the right. if its hard to take off the skin then its not done. It should literally fall off the skin. its the squash is mushy you cooked it for too long. should resemble pasta noodles. You can also check out my video HERE.
How to Cook a Kabocha squash
This squash has the consistency of a potato with a hint of sweetness. Best way to pick these bad boys is to make sure they have a greyish hue color to them. I found the greener and less grey it is the less sweet it is. Those are still good if you want more potato like flavor but trust me the ripe sweet ones are bomb!
So i like to throw this whole thing in the oven at 350 degrees for 45 min-1 hour (medium sized) then i turn it over and let it cook another 20 min. I dont want this to be too soft as it becomes more difficult to cut and prepare. Make sure its firm to make a slight indent in the skin. Then i take it out and cut it right down the middle and scoop out the seeds. Pretty easy. You can also view my video HERE.
